The Big Deal was definitely a big deal for the Modified drivers who attended the historic event. Over $300,000 in purse monies and contingency bonuses are set to be distributed once all tire samples, good or bad, are received.
Not only will Cade Dillard receive the $100,001 as the winner’s share, he will collect an extra $6,541 from preliminary and bonus earnings. Cade collected $100 from winning his heat race, $5,100 from winning his qualifying feature, $500 from leading at the halfway mark of the feature, $591 from leading lap 91 of the feature (thanks Joe Duvall), and $250 from setting the fastest lap in the feature event. That lap was a 14.861 on Lap 10. In fact, Cade was the only competitor to turn a lap underneath 15 seconds. He clocked in under 15 seconds 4 times, on lap 8, 9, 10 and 11.
34 drivers earned over $1,000 from their placement and performance during the event. That includes the 24 A Feature starters and 10 other competitors that reached 4 digits of total earnings in multiple days of competition. 50 total competitors earned enough to make their entry fee for the event back.
There were 4 bonuses that drivers each earned $1,000 from. First, the Hard Charger in Saturday’s A Feature was Benji LaCrosse going from the 24th starting position to finishing in 13th. The $1,000 Hard Luck award in Saturday’s A Feature has been awarded to Ethan Dotson after losing a driveshaft while in 3rd place, 61 laps into the race. $1,000 went to the highest finishing WISSOTA car. This was awarded to Ms. Kennedy Swan, as she had the only WISSOTA car that qualified into the feature. Finally, the overall hard charger award for most positions gained throughout the entire week awarded $1,000 to the driver of the K9 machine, Will Krup.
Local drivers were not left out of contention, as a unique bonus was up for grabs for anyone within 60 miles of the facility. There were 3 awards in this category, where Winona’s Jake Timm took home top honors ($500). Winona’s Keith Foss was next ($300), and Rushford’s Alex Williamson grabbed the final award ($200). All 3 racers made the Feature, proving just how tough the local contingent can be when up against the country’s top talent in the Modified division.
Other bonuses ranged from $40 to $500.
